Emotional Eating Therapy Group

From Pendulum to Path – Breaking Free from the Diet+Binge Cycle

A 12-week trauma-informed emotional eating therapy group where you can find support, connection, and new ways of relating to food and yourself!

If you’re here, you might relate to some of these experiences…

  • Repeatedly starting diets or new set of food rules, sticking to them for a while, and then finding yourself bingeing or overeating again
  • Feeling ashamed or discouraged about your relationship with food and your body
  • Swinging between trying to control what you eat and feeling like eating sometimes happens almost automatically
  • Feeling frustrated with your body and repeatedly trying to “fix” it
  • Feeling stuck in cycles of calorie restriction, overeating, and self-criticism
  • Feeling confused about what actually helps, especially with so many different messages about food and bodies in the world right now

This group is a place to step out of the cycle of trying to “solve” food through more rules or pressure, and instead understand the emotional patterns that keep your unique cycle around food and body image going.

About the Approach

“Emotional eating,” binge eating, and body image issues often arise from different parts of us trying their best to help. Examples of common parts include:

  • the part that restricts calories/diets,
  • the part that turns to food for comfort, self-soothing,
  • the part that binges,
  • the part that numbs or disconnects us from our emotions,
  • and/or the inner critics that follow afterward.

These parts of ourselves often carry good intentions, but their strategies can leave us feeling caught in cycles of shame, isolation, apathy, and self-blame. This group offers a space to gently get to know these parts in community, with curiosity, compassion, and support.

Together, we’ll blend practical and experiential skill-building with open, therapeutic discussion to help you:

  • Understand the roles your different parts play in emotional eating
  • Learn tools for managing urges and regulating emotions
  • Practice self-compassion instead of harsh self-criticism
  • Reconnect with your body’s natural cues of hunger, fullness, and satisfaction
  • Break the isolation that makes eating struggles feel so heavy

How to Join

Because group safety is so important, all participants complete a brief intake conversation with the facilitating therapist before joining. This helps ensure the group is the right fit and that everyone feels supported.

Sign up using the interest form below, and I will reach out to you shortly to schedule an introductory call to assess if it’s a good fit!

About the Group Facilitator

Hi, I’m Chloé, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Pasadena, who is passionate about helping people build connection between mind and body. I have completed extensive training in trauma-informed, parts-based therapy approaches that support clients in healing their relationship with themselves and their bodies, and I am currently enrolled in education toward becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

This group holds special importance to me because I know firsthand how impossible it can feel to find your place between the extremes of body positivity and diet culture. I bring years of lived experience of yo-yo dieting, the pendulum swing between bingeing and restricting calories, and internalized shame about my relationship with my body. I have found (and continue to work at preserving) a more peaceful, caring relationship with my own body and look forward to facilitating a space for folks to connect and move toward healing!
